ABOUT US

Our teams of specialists coordinate every Houston air conditioning project–complete installations or routine repairs–our goal is to do every job right the first time.

TRUSTED SINCE 1973

In simple terms, you want your new Houston air conditioning and heating system to be designed and installed right and with the best equipment and other materials for the job. By no small coincidence, you want repairs, replacement, or retrofit of an existing HVAC done to the same standards. Well, so do we. Neither of us wins if we have to come back out to your home, because of substandard parts or sloppy work. Consider these points:

  • At Central City Air, we do residential Houston air conditioning. We don’t do office buildings, stores, or warehouses. Only residences. Consequently our experience is residential, and we can solve the problems with your Houston home’s heater and air conditioner–or better yet, design a system that will avoid or prevent those problems in the first place.

  • We have been licensed to do business in Houston since 1973. We also hold a statewide license to allow us to do work anywhere in Texas.

  • Our teams of specialists coordinate every project–complete installations or routine repairs–our goal is to do every job right the first time.

  • Our warranty is one-year parts on all repairs and two-year on all newly installed equipment. Check this out with any other company.

  • We have installed residential systems in Houston as large as $100,000 in value.

  • We do not have any unhappy customers because we solve problems, not go around them. We have a 98% customer return.

  • Our service rates are competitive with all quality contractors in the Houston area.

  • We know how to remove humidity by designing a system for your exact needs and have been installing mold free residential environments by using properly designed and sized evaporator coils since 1985.

OUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Here are the 3 standards that David Debien, Founder used to select equipment:

  • The engineering design of the equipment.

  • Reliability of the equipment and cost to (the owner) our customer.
  • Manufacturers’ willingness to stand behind the equipment for our customers.

We monitor equipment and its performance in relationship to the standards we expect. We only install equipment whose engineering meets our standards and the manufacturer does a good job of standing behind their product.

Coil size and type

  • We select each cooling coil based on the design of you home. This is reflected in the engineering balance point with regard to humidity removal, with maximum performance.

  • Installation of any coil must be slanted toward the drain.
  • The airflow must be balanced and checked after installation and adjusted if necessary. When this is done correctly, you will benefit from the maximum humidity removal, maximum comfort, and minimum operating cost, longest system life, and minimum maintenance.
  • With the correct coil, total life cycle costs are lower and mold potential is minimized.

SEER

  • In many situations, contractors will blindly match equipment to get a certain SEER rating, however matching for the SEER rating and not paying attention to how the engineering aspects impact performance often results in Houston air conditioning system that will not run aggressively to remove enough heat or control humidity. Our founder David Debien, with his engineering background and through working with the engineering department of the manufacturers proved years ago, that the coil temperature must be as cold as possible and airflow at the proper rate to not only cool but dehumidify the air. This allows for proper heat removal and aggressive humidity control with the correct airflow to maximize circulation for overall greater indoor comfort. It is also our opinion that the greater the heat removal, the more aggressive the humidity control, the more comfortable you feel at a higher temperature. This means the unit will cycle less in a 24-hour period, which helps to reduce utility consumption. That’s what Central City Air thinks of as efficiency and comfort.

Humidity Control

  • Many homes in the Houston area are affected by mold problems. People spend a lot of time and money trying to eliminate the problem.

  • The fact is, if you’re A/C system is removing the maximum amount of humidity and your home’s envelope is properly designed; mold will rarely appear in your home. A coil, properly sized and designed, will have a higher humidity removal rate than any other design. If all of your components in your air conditioning system are installed and maintained in a proper manner, humidity and mold will rarely be a problem.

Heating (We do have winters in Houston…occasionally)

  • When considering a heater for the Houston area, the most important criteria is the blower capacity which directly affects airflow. An air conditioning system requires proper airflow to function correctly. Airflow capacity is also affected by system static pressure. The type and design of the ductwork impacts static pressure and resistance, as does the type of supply registers type of filter system and quantity of return air.

  • Along the gulf coast we size the furnace by its blower capabilities for cooling performance. Heating is actually a secondary consideration. We prefer a furnace with variable speed blower technology because we can precisely set the airflow for maximum cooling performance and enhanced cooling humidity control in both single stage cooling and variable speed/inverter technology. The standard multi speed blower will only allow us to get in range for perspective cooling tonnage the variable speed is much more versatile a welcome industry improvement.

TESTIMONIALS

Everyone was very courteous, upbeat and efficient at their tasks. We continue to use Central city Air because we like dealing with companies who retain their employees.
Central City Air is the only AC company that I trust to maintain our two systems. I once told one of their service techs that no one touches our AC systems except CCA.
The estimates are very informative; appreciate the way you include an explanation as to why you are recommending the specified solution.
We are really grateful to have Central City available to us. We know that when your people show up, our HVAC problems will soon be solved.
The installation crew was very professional. They worked quietly and efficiently and were very polite. They are excellent employees! They did a great job!!!
Your guys were courteous, quick, and did a terrific job both on the installation and on the clean up. Thank you so much for your quick follow through and making this all work in our schedule. You are the best, just like our neighbors keep telling everyone you are!
Everything was handled perfectly and in a professional yet friendly manner. You were all amazing and I appreciated the follow-up call by Suzanne Debien.
